A 160 megawatt wind farm with 100 turbines capable of powering 104,000 homes is to be built on the Campo band of Mission Indians of the Kumeyaay Nation (pop. 351), 60 miles east of San Diego, by a Chicago based developer (Invenergy LLC) of large scale renewable energy projects. The deal is estimated at $300M. Invenergy LLC will design & build it and SDGE will buy the electricity. (Energyboom.com)
