San Diego Zoo : Nighttime Zoo 2009

June 27 – September 7, 2009: Enjoy Extended Hours and Entertainment at the San Diego Zoo
Celebrate summer at the San Diego Zoo’s Nighttime Zoo! Visitors to the Zoo are invited to come early and stay late at the San Diego Zoo and enjoy extended hours and extended entertainment! Nighttime Zoo takes place daily from Saturday, June 27, 2009 to Monday, September 7, 2009, from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm, with special Nighttime Zoo activities running from 3:30 pm to 8:30 pm.
What can you expect at Nighttime Zoo? Music, science…and lots of birds! Here are some highlights:
Free-flying birds, dazzling lights and beautiful music are all part of the Nighttime Zoo’s new evening show SOAR: A Symphony in Flight. The show includes dozens of birds: some that fly above guests’ heads, some that sing and drum and some that run the light show! The birds tell the story of hope and conservation. Daily in Hunte Amphitheater at 8:30 pm.
Dr. Zoolittle’s Science Extravaganza explores the fun science all around us. Warning: Things may fly, float, amaze, and explode! In Children’s Zoo.
Returning to the front plaza this summer is the graceful and unusual Vine to Vine living garden. Two women dressed as vines create elegant and intriguing shapes before merging with the Zoo’s lush foliage.
Marionettes portray Little Jackie Paper and Puff the Magic Dragon battling a pirate ship to help a king and his daughter. At Sydney’s Grill.
The Safari Bush Band greets guests on the front plaza with toe-tapping music and hula hoops!
In the lower canyon, Spirit Wind will perform soothing contemporary jazz and global music nightly at the Canyon Cafe.
Nighttime Zoo is included with San Diego Zoo admission and runs from Saturday, June 27, 2009 to Monday, September 7, 2009. The San Diego Zoo is located in Balboa Park at 2920 Zoo Drive.
