Rock ‘n Roll Marathon 2009 : Free Headliner Concert

May 31, 2009: English Beat Performs at the Rock ‘n Roll Marathon in San Diego

Get ready to rock San Diego! The 2009 Rock ‘n Roll Marathon Headliner Concert has been announced!
The English Beat is headed West to the Rock ‘n Roll Marathon and is bringing the 80s with them. Famous for their fusion of soul, reggae, rock and punk, the six member band has a great dance beat celebrated by fans everywhere. Don’t miss lead singer David Wakeling belt out timeless songs such as “Mirror in the Bathroom” and “Save it for Later.” Known as legendary King of Ska, Wakeling has wowed audiences since 1979 when English Beat hit the music scene.
The Post-Race Headliner Concert has moved to the Finish Line Festival at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot and will take place shortly after the race. And best of all: the concert is free and is open to participants, family, friends and the general public!
Here’s the Finish Line Village Schedule (tentative, subject to change) for Race Day, Sunday, May 31, 2009:
- 10:00 am – Awards
- 10:30 am – Bedford Grove
- 1:15 pm – English Beat Headliner Concert
- 2:45 pm – Concert Finale
- 5:00 pm – Last shuttle leaves Airport Authority Parking Lot
