Taste of Little Italy 2008Taste of Little Italy 2008 takes place on Wednesday, November 5, 2008 in San Diego’s Little Italy District. Don’t miss out - only a limited number of tickets remain.

Stroll through Little Italy’s tree-lined streets and enjoy tasting samples of appetizers, desserts and specialty beverages prepared by Little Italy’s wonderful restaurants.

Wondering what’s on the menu? Here’s a list of restaurants participating in Taste of Little Italy 2008 and what they’ll be serving:

90+ point rated wines under $20Anthology (1337 India Street, San Diego, CA): Brulee of fig and blue cheese galette, marsala reduction, spiced walnuts and candied orange zest.

Buon Appetito (1609 India Street, San Diego, CA): Farfalle Pollo Affumicato - smoked chicken, sun dried tomatoes and mushrooms in a white wine cream sauce; Penne Genovese - Homemade pesto sauce with shoestring potatoes topped with pine nuts.

Cafe Zucchero and Trattoria Fantastica (1731 and 1735 India Street, San Diego, CA): TBA

Caffe Italia (1704 India Street, San Diego, CA): Cappuccino and Caffe Italia blend house coffee.

Enoteca Style (1445 India Street, San Diego, CA): Tomato Pesto Bruschetta - Roma tomato, garlic and olive oil with a basil pesto sauce.

Filippi’s Pizza Grotto (1747 India Street, San Diego, CA): Assorted Pizza.

Porto Vista Hotel (1835 Columbia Street, San Diego, CA): Warm Jinjilli and White Chocolate bread pudding with organic cinnamon, bourbon caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream; paired with an aperitif/dessert wine.

Illume Bistro (675 West Beech Street, San Diego, CA): Seafood Paella with Spanish chorizo, sofrito and English peas.

Indigo Grill (1536 India Street, San Diego, CA): Butternut squash soup.

Just Burgers & Lounge (2034 Kettner Boulevard, San Diego, CA): Mini burgers prepared with special grass fed beef and special sauce with choice of French fries or garden salad.

Karl Strauss Brewing Company (1157 Columbia Street, San Diego, CA): Enjoy a 4-ounce sample of beer of your choice.

Little Italy Spaghetteria (1953 India Street, San Diego, CA): Vegetarian pasta.

Mimmo’s Italian Village (1743 India Street, San Diego, CA): Ziti pasta with homemade sausage, bell peppers and marinara sauce.

Pappalecco (1602 State Street, San Diego, CA): Gelato.

Sogno DiVino (1607 India Street, San Diego, CA): Choice of Panini with Salame and Cheese or Panini with Turkey, Cheese and Bell Pepper.

Spicy Pickle (303 West Beech Street, San Diego, CA): Choose from signature paninis (the Gobbler, the Bandido or the Italian) signature subs (the Englishman or the Wise Guy) or pizzettis (Aztec or Sonoma).


Starbucks Coffee Company (801 West Hawthorn Street, San Diego, CA): Coffee and a pastry.

Sushi Fix (1608 India Street, San Diego, CA): Choose from a variety of sushi roll pieces such as Rainbow Rolls, Sunset Rolls and Crunchy Rolls.

Vincenzo Ristorante Italiano (1702 India Street, San Diego, CA): Ravioli Margherite - Ravioli stuffed with ricotta, goat cheese and spinach (all organic) served with a pink cream sauce.

The Waterfront Bar & Grill (2044 Kettner Boulevard, San Diego, CA): Slider burger and Thai Salad.

Taste of Little Italy 2008 takes place in San Diego’s Little Italy District on Wednesday, November 5, 2008 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Advance tickets are $35.00 per person and may be ordered by phone (by calling (619) 615-1092) or in person (at 734 West Beech Street, Suite 100, San Diego, CA) until the end of the day on Tuesday, November 4, 2008. Tickets will also be available for purchase at the time of the event for $40.00 per person from the Taste of Little Italy Tent on the corner of India Street and Date Street (Note: the Taste Tent is also where you pick up your Tasting Passport on the day of the event). Ticket price includes tastes at each participating restaurant.
