Menghini Winery : Julian CA Grape Stomp 2008
September 3rd, 2008
That’s right, folks: it’s a bona fide Grape Stomp!
Head over to Julian, California this Saturday for the annual Grape Stomp and Festa at the Menghini Winery.
Every September, the Julian Chamber of Commerce celebrates the harvest of the grapes with a real, old world style Grape Stomp and Festa at the Menghini Winery. Tons of grapes are blessed then poured into two barrels (one for adults and one for children). Guests are then invited to get in the barrel and stomp the grapes! The festive atmosphere is created by Italian music by Roman Holiday, dancing, Bocci Ball competitions, grape stomping, wine tasting, a Jumbo Jump for the kids and a variety of food and crafts for sale.

The Grape Stomp and Festa is a Julian Chamber of Commerce fundraiser and has been for the last nine years. The event, which draws approximately 1,800 people each year is sponsored by the Julian Chamber of Commerce, with proceeds from the event paying for special projects such as marketing the town; cleaning the streets; maintaining the public restrooms and funding historic preservation projects and events.
The Julian Annual Grape Stomp and Festa takes place on Saturday, September 6, 2008 from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm at the Menghini Winery located at 1150 Julian Orchards Drive, Julian, CA, 92036. Admission is $10.00 per Adult aged 21 and over (includes a commemorative wine glass and 4 free wine tastings), $5.00 per person aged 6 to 20, and free for children aged 5 and under.
