Founder’s Day: Free General Admission to the World Famous San Diego Zoo
September 29th, 2007
Founder’s Day, which is celebrated annually on the first Monday in October, marks the day the Zoological Society of San Diego was founded (which was actually on October 2, 1916). To commemorate the milestone, all visitors – adults and children alike – are invited to enjoy the San Diego Zoo for free. This year, Founder’s Day is October 1st.
The San Diego Zoo will be open to the public for Founder’s Day (Monday, October 1, 2007) starting at 9:00 am. The entrance gates will close at 4:00 pm, and all visitors are expected to leave the grounds by 5:00 pm. General admission to the Zoo will be free, however additional charges may apply for Buses and Skyfari.
A word of caution: Founder’s Day is known to draw over 50,000 visitors, which is more than double the usual attendance at the Zoo. Be prepared for crowds and longer-than-usual lines, and be sure to pack some patience with your sunscreen!
