Megabus : Cheap Travel from San Diego to Los Angeles

Looking for cheap travel from San Diego to Los Angeles? How does $1.00 sound? Too good to be true, you say? Not anymore!
Debuting on the West Coast this month is Megabus, a no-frills, no-fuss intercity express bus service. The bus company will operate non-stop trips from a Los Angeles hub to and from cities in the West and Southwest, including San Diego, San Francisco, Oakland, San Jose, Las Vegas and Phoenix.
Megabus has foregone the traditional model of selling tickets at ticket counters and using bus terminals to board passengers, opting instead for online ticketing and sidewalk stops as ways to keep its costs low.
What about the $1.00 tickets, you ask?
Megabus offers a limited number of seats (unofficially, 4 per route) for $1.00 (plus a $0.50 service charge) on each of its daily routes, fares then increase incrementally as the departure date nears and the bus begins to fill. So, the earlier you book your seat, the cheaper your ticket will be. The top fare for each trip, according to the execs at Megabus, will still be cheaper than their competitors. For example, Megabus’ most expensive one way ticket from San Diego to Los Angeles, booked 24-hours in advance, will cost $15.00 (plus a $0.50 service charge).
The Megabus pick up and drop off location in San Diego is located in front of the Megabus/Coach America bus facility at 3888 Beech Street, San Diego, CA, 92105. The pick up and drop off location in Los Angeles is near Union Station, on the street behind the Amtrak Terminal building, at the sidewalk beyond the courtyard between Union Station and the Metropolitan Water District Building.
