Balboa Park : Nighttime Zoo at the San Diego Zoo
July 10th, 2007
Nighttime Zoo is the San Diego Zoo’s summer offering of extended hours and extended entertainment. As part of this year’s Nighttime Zoo festivities, visitors to the San Diego Zoo can enjoy the Fiesta De Las Caras daily from June 23 to September 3, 2007, from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm (guests are permitted to stay on the Zoo grounds until 9:00 pm).
The Fiesta De Las Caras, which translates to “Party of the Faces,” celebrates the vast culture of California, Central, and South America through Latin and Peruvian live music and brightly adorned Spanish performers. Visitors can also enjoy daily demonstrations by authentic craftsmen renowned for their gourd carving skills, beading, looming, and basket weaving as well as traditional retablos art. There are many activities planned for children as well, including arts and crafts, shows and animal encounters.
Special shows and performances take place at various locations in the Zoo throughout the day, including the spectacular “end of the evening” show Talamasca – Jungle Myths and Legends, which mixes stilt-walking, acrobatic acts, special effects and multi-media to create an energetic production filled with colorful costumes and memorable characters.
Nighttime Zoo’s Fiesta De Las Caras is included with Zoo admission and runs from June 23 to September 3, 2007. The San Diego Zoo is located in Balboa Park at 2920 Zoo Drive.
