Free Admission to the World Famous San Diego Zoo

September 29th, 2006

The Zoological Society of San Diego was founded on October 2, 1916. To celebrate this milestone, all visitors – adults and children alike – are invited to enjoy the San Diego Zoo for free on Founder’s Day, which is held on the first Monday in October. This year, Founder’s Day is October 2nd.

In addition to free general admission to the Zoo on October 2nd, the Zoo’s Kids’ Free Days promotion offers free admission to children under the age of 12 during the entire month of October, with a paid adult admission.

Both of these promotions tend to attract larger than usual crowds to the Zoo. The Kids’ Free Days is popular with school excursion groups, while Founder’s Day is known to draw over 50,000 visitors, more than double the usual attendance at the Zoo. So be prepared for lines and crowds and make sure to pack some patience along with your sunscreen!
