There’s Nothing Ordinary About San Diego’s Extraordinary Desserts

September 27th, 2006

Imagine cheesecakes adorned with fresh flower petals, cakes gilded with edible 23 1/2 karat gold flakes, tortes piled high with fresh exotic fruits. Imagine desserts so beautifully presented, you actually pause before you devour.

What you are imagining is a reality at Extraordinary Desserts.

At the helm of this dessert cafe is Karen Krasne, who studied pastry making at the Cordon Bleu in France. While she periodically returns to France to hone her skills, Karen’s true inspiration comes from her travels to Bali, Morocco, Italy and other exotic parts of the world.

Karen’s influence extends beyond desserts to gourmet teas, choice coffees, and even a signature line of gourmet jams, chutneys and honey. Knick-knacks for your home and garden, hand selected by Karen on her various travels, are also available for purchase.

Extraordinary Desserts has two locations, the original in Hillcrest and the second in Downtown San Diego’s Little Italy district. The latter also serves light meals – breads, dips, salads, paninis and cheeses.

Extraordinary Desserts is a must for dessert aficionados. Come early and be prepared to wait in line. But above all, come on an empty stomach – these desserts are so rich and decadent, you’ll be glad you skipped dinner!
